You may be familiar with our website, or the Noosa, Dunsborough, and Eumundi Showrooms, but did you know you can also find Pottery For The Planet products in 500 stockists across Australia and New Zealand? Today, we are introducing you to one such store—Mumbleberry Providore

In this Meet The Stockist, we interviewed Lucy the founder of Queensland based foodie and gifting mecca Mumbleberry Providore. You can find their flagship store, Mumbleberry Wilston, in the leafy suburb of Wilston, tucked between Newmarket and Fortitude Valley. Alternatively, they're catering to their "city locals" with Brisbane's Heritage Lanes based Mumbleberry Lane. Both are full of hampers, homewares and culinary products sure to delight and elevate your dining!

What is the space like?

"We were very small to begin with, and quite minimalist. The local community has supported us well, and the original store is now more of a treasure trove, with rotating products, colours, flavours and seasonal lines. We listen to the community and support them with what they’d like to see more of too.

We opened a second location in the city for the corporate market, though we still have a lovely following of ‘city locals’. Furthermore, we now stock more gifts and lifestyle products where we used focus primarily on food alone."

How Did Mumbleberry Providore Come About?

"Following the beginning of COVID there was a definite need to ‘create your own job’. I personally love food, and Australia is spoiled for choice when it comes to the amazing small producers we have here.

Having said that, it has always been tricky finding some of my favourite brands in Brisbane. This inspired me to share with my local community all the Australian artisanal produce I have come across in my travels. This felt a like a worthy project at a time when many small producers were hurting.

As far as mission statements go, I’m not sure I have one for the business aside from supporting Australian producers, however a very inspirational girl I formerly worked with used to say:

‘Work Hard and be Nice to People’  – that’s always stuck."

What steps is Mumbleberry taking to be more sustainable?

"Within the business itself we ensure that everything that can be recycled, is recycled. We are very lucky that our city store is located within a building complex that has a comprehensive waste management system, which really helps with this. We reuse any packing materials such as bubble wrap for use in shipping our online orders out safely.

However, in truth, the real heroes of sustainability would have to be the producers we support, such as Pottery For The Planet."

Here are just a few of the environmentally conscious artisans that they proudly endorse through the shop:

"Each of them manages to incorporate sustainability into their business model, be that through compostable/recyclable/reusable packaging, minimizing ‘food miles’ via locally sourced ingredients, ecological community projects, setting green energy targets, carbon offset programs, and the ingenious uses they find for any food wastage that occurs during the typical manufacturing process. Many producers are actually making the effort to upcycle this ‘waste’ into new & exciting products."

What do you love about Pottery For The Planet?

"The gorgeous designs immediately win people over - each piece is a work of art. Also, there is something so tactile about the Pottery For The Planet ceramics that people can’t help but want to hold them. On top of that, people want to know that their hard-earned money is being spent on producers that choose sustainability over profit.

When people hear the Pottery For The Planet story, it inspires them to become part of that story. We are so proud to support Pottery For The Planet. Keep up the great work!"
