Pottery For The Planet’s home base is our Noosa Studio. Our business predominantly operates out of Noosa, and the space also serves as a showroom for our collections. This is where the magic happens! A space where we craft, pack stock to send to our host of wholesale stockists and where individuals can come to explore the range in our showroom.

Renton’s father, Steve Bishopric, started making pottery in a small space underneath his parents’ house in Auckland while he was at university in the early 1970’s. As his practice continued to grow, he moved to the countryside to pursue a truly alternative and sustainable lifestyle. There, Steve built a wood-fired kiln to supply the thriving New Zealand pottery market at the time.
Doing business in New Zealand connects Renton, as well as Pottery For The Planet, back to their roots. We established a branch of our business in Central Auckland in 2019 and we're proud to have locals running this branch of the business. We distribute directly from this location to NZ stockists and retail customers.
In order to mitigate the carbon emissions involved in freighting stock from the East Coast to the West Coast, we set up a second Pottery For The Planet studio and showroom in Dunsborough, on Western Australia’s South West coast. We distribute directly from this location to West Australian stockists and retail customers.
The studio itself is manned by Matt Griffiths, who Renton worked with during his pottery traineeship almost 20 years ago! The two have remained closely connected through ceramics since. Matt’s vast knowledge of pottery and creative glazing have produced some of our most-loved glazes, including Coral Dreaming and Midnight On Mars.
