The Shino-Yaki Ceramic Travel Cup brings centuries of pottery tradition into an everyday reusable cup, with a glaze known for its beautifully unpredictable finish.
Shino-Yaki takes its name from a style of Japanese pottery dating back to the 16th century, celebrated for its humble beauty and connection to the wabi-sabi aesthetic. Across each cup, the glaze can shift from thick snow-white tones to warm red and rust-like scorch marks, ensuring no two pieces ever emerge from the kiln quite the same.
Each Travel Cup comes with a cream 100% silicone lid for sipping on the go. Choose from 4oz, 6oz, 8oz or 12oz to suit everything from a piccolo to a generous latte.
Designed to fit most standard car and pram cup holders, it is a practical reusable alternative to disposable takeaway cups while carrying the character of traditional handmade pottery.
The story
Shino-Yaki was developed for Pottery For The Planet by our former potters Stephen Roberts and Rob Natoli.
Stephen first worked with Shino glaze while at Flaxton Gardens Pottery with Ian Reid, before continuing to explore the technique alongside friend and mentor Rowley Drysdale. He later had the opportunity to see original Shino pottery in Japan, deepening his connection to the history and craft behind the glaze.
Each Shino-Yaki Travel Cup is handmade and one of a kind, with natural variations in glaze, colour, texture and markings that make every piece unique.

Shino-YakiCustomers praised these beautifully crafted ceramic travel cups for their stunning colours, excellent quality, and comfortable feel. Many noted "coffee tastes better" and appreciated the ceramic lip feel. The cups fit car holders well and receive frequent compliments. However, some found the ceramic gets very hot without the heat band, and a few noted sizing was smaller than expected.

Ok so the cup doesn't actually vibrate, but it is cheaper than the exact same cups that don't have the stamp. The stamp is actually pretty subtle, and only on one side, so it's not even very noticeable. The quality is just as great as the other cups, there's no difference except the stamp.
Bought this for my mum, who likes colourful things. This is going to go great with her acrylic rainbow glasses, flamingo shirt and floral pants.
Happy to say that the "salty" stamp is pretty low down and subtle, just like salty friend I bought it for. These are great presents if you have someone in your life who appreciates being called out and also enjoys a takeaway drink. The glazing on these is exactly the same and just as nice as the non-stamped version. Cat to demonstrate scale and matching facial expression.
My sweetie has been having a tough time. Bad work stress, health problems, weekends full of chores, it was all leading to burnout. I was going away for a few weeks and wanted to get my partner something really special, and thought I'd do my Christmas shopping at the same time. It was incredibly rude of me, but I emailed customer service to send me the most beautiful version of this cup because I wanted my partner to have the best surprise. They emailed me back and said that they could! And even gift wrapped it for me! When it arrived, I popped in a coffee voucher at our favourite cafe (SMWRE in Melbourne, they're so good) and hid it in the cupboard with the rest of the cups. A few days later, I got a text message that was just entirely emojis, maybe every single emoji, and A LOT of exclamation marks :) Now my partner can look cute and make their awful coworkers jealous with their moral superiority.

Absolutely love this travel cup! It goes with me everywhere I go. Its dishwasher safe which is a huge plus for me and it sits perfectly in the cup holders in my car. I get compliments all the time on this beautiful design and the heat band works great too!
